Lieutenant Stephen Lemieux

Lieutenant Stephen Lemieux is a 26-year veteran of the Massachusetts Fire Service. He began with the Auburn Fire Rescue Department in 1992 as an Explorer with Post 11. During that time, he served as the President of the Post. In that same year, he received his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.

In August of 1993, he was promoted to Call Firefighter within the department while attending the department sponsored recruit training school and studied Fire Science at Quinsigamond Community College. He proudly served as a Call Firefighter for the Town of Auburn for 7 years until he was sworn in as a career Firefighter in 2000 and has been a member of Group 1 for the past 18 years serving as both a firefighter and now Lieutenant assigned to the West St. station.

During Lt. Lemieux’s time as a call and career Firefighter, he has served as a Training Officer for the department currently serving as the Assistant Training Coordinator. Lt. Lemieux is a past Instructor with the Massachusetts Fire District 7 Recruit Training Program before it was disbanded and was an original member of the District 7 Regional Rapid Intervention Team. Lt. Lemieux has instructed numerous Rapid Intervention Courses for a number of local communities in District 7 and is currently one of five Instructors within the department credentialed to teach Rapid Intervention from the Department of Fire Services.

Lt. Lemieux is a graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy, career recruit training program class #151, is a nationally certified Firefighter I/II, Fire Instructor I and Fire Officer I. He has been an Instructor at the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy for the past 4 years teaching in the recruit training program, gas school, firefighter skills group and the Call/Volunteer Recruit Training program.

In 2014 Lt. Lemieux received the Firefighter of the Year award from the Auburn Fire Rescue Department and has received several Unit Citations.
